Oracle Compliance and Audit Defense Strategies!

Let me guess, you received an Oracle audit notice and now you are either nervous to face them alone or think that your systems are just fine? You know how tricky they are and you really don’t want to get settled into a contract that you don’t need. Maybe it’s possible that your business grew so much that you are afraid your licensing position is not compliant anymore?

Oracle chooses who to audit based on who will generate revenue because they believe that client is not compliant. Oracle has a sales rep for basically every product they offer and their main goal is to make sales, in fact they are on a constant sales target, which is why they find every possible way to empty your pockets to fill up theirs in a short term manner and audits are just one of the ways they are able to do that.

So, whether you received an audit notice or you want to make plans now to avoid audits, here are a few strategies to follow:

  • Know your contracts and what they say! For instance, an audit notice is just that, “a notice” saying that in 45 days they will begin to audit you. However Oracle tends to contact you immediately and ask to setup a kick-off meeting well before the 45 day period is up.
  • Be well informed and show you have a high level of information so that they believe you are in full control.
  • Do a license review with an Oracle Expert company – make sure they are non-biased and not affiliated with Oracle whatsoever.
