Spring break season – Break the spend cycle!

bigstock

You have been looking at your screen for hours as you shuffle through your Oracle support renewals and after adding them all up you let out a big sigh and think, “it seems high but I guess I have to pay it.” You might even feel that if you even question the amount or ask for reductions you might end up paying even more or be questioned about your use. The saying “don’t rock the boat” might feel true but at the same time, you arestill taking on water. It is time to stop bailing and start plugging the holes. Most support contract renewals have room for improvement but financially as well as within the language itself. You may have been told that if you make any changes that the entire support contract will be repriced which is a scary thought but, if done properly you can realize savings without any repricing. You might even hear that they will give you a break if you sign a longer renewal when the reality is, you could probably get that savings without locking yourself into a long-term deal that prevents you from making any changes during those years. Why would you allow your organization to be bullied like that? Fear is a strong motivator in these cases.. we recently spoke with a DBA and presented that person with a potential savings in the millions a year by just following some simple advice and allowing us to help. That person simply was too afraid that Oracle would question the decision and threaten them for more and told us they would rather just pay the money than deal with that. Don’t allow yourself to live in fear. You are the customer, you hold the cards, you have the right to get the most accurate contracts and support fees you can and it is your responsibility as a steward of the organization you represent.

Call SLC to find out how we can help you get through this process and regain control of your relationship.
